Sports and Remedial Massage therapy and Deep tissue Massage

Sports and Remedial Massage therapy is beneficial for anyone who is suffering from muscular pain or that may be recovering from an injury.  It can also be used as a preventative measure to keep your muscles healthy, aligned, and to remove any scar tissue or adhesions from the tissues which could eventually build up causing pain and restriction.

Remedial massage also increases circulation which will help to remove metabolic waste from the body through the lymph, and at the same time encourage fresh blood and nutrients to the muscles and tissues.

Some conditions that would benefit:

  • Muscle strains
  • Ligament / joint sprains (after 48 hours of injury)
  • Tendinitis
  • Inflexibility
  • Piriformis syndrome (causing sciatica)
  • Hip pain
  • RSI
  • Plantar fasciitis (foot / heel pain)
  • Stiff neck
  • Rotator cuff (shoulder) problems
  • Runners knee (iliotibial band syndrome / patellofemoral pain syndrome)
  • Groin strain
  • Headaches (that may be due to hypertonic muscles in the back, neck or shoulders)
  • Stress

Your treatment will be tailored to your specific need and can include the following techniques:

  • Deep Tissue Massage
  • Trigger point therapy to target specific problems areas (they may not be found at the site of your pain but actually be causing you referred pain!)
  • Soft tissue release which increases the pliability of the muscle. Stretching the muscle in this way will help to break down any fibrous scar tissue
  • Muscle energy technique stretching which aims to increase your range of motion and flexibility
  • Light massage with effleurage technique
